The Star Hyacinths

Six years ago someone robbed the Dosey Asteroids Shipping Station of a hundred million credits in star hyacinths and left seventy-nine people dead of something other than the bullet wounds in their bodies. Now Wellan Dasinger is heading for the place the loot ended up, aboard a speedboat chartered from the roving Willata Fleet.

His partner, Dr. Egavine, got the location in a way Dasinger doesn't like. The boat's crew turns on its own pilot, Duomart Mines, before they even arrive. And on a lonely lake world, two wrecked ships rest side by side, watched by a castaway who has stayed sane for six years by looking at one stolen gem a day. Whatever killed the station's staff may still be waiting there.
